Special Topic Workshop
Some life circumstances need special attention. This set of programs is designed with specific audiences and goals in mind.
Academic-Athletic Success
Athletes face particular challenges as they work to be successful in both school and sport. This workshop is designed to help these students with focusing on priorities and balancing the need to have an extra-curricular life with all of the other requirements that need their time and attention.
Fundamentals of Life Coaching
Life coaching involves working with someone to improve your life for the better. Similar to a mentor program, this “coaching” involves one-on-one attention to determine a particular individual’s needs and desires and then working with them and challenging them in ways that promote their personal growth.
Residence Life Success
Working in residence life can be a highly draining process. The tips in this workshop are designed to explore ways to keep the energy up for the duration of the year, ways to be both a friend and an authority with students, and ways to keep your own needs at the forefront as well. Loosely based on the “wellness wheel” concept, this workshop emphasizes the need to understand one’s self before they can effectively influence others.
Sexual Assault Education
This workshop begins with an exploration of common sexual behaviors and explores the risks associated with them. From there, participants transition into a “quiz workshop” on rape and sexual abuse. Finally, participants are brought through a short training on what they can do to help when confronted with a sexual situation.
Substance Abuse Education
Substance abuse is one of the deadliest problems facing society today. This workshop focuses on reasons that people abuse substances, as well as exploring how we, as individuals, can play a role in helping ourselves or those we love deal with these issues.
